e28T-3 Pottery Kiln
e28T-3 Pottery Kiln
LEAD TIME: 10-12 WEEKS
The e28T-3 is the large flagship kiln of the Easy-Fire line — the largest round top-loading kiln L&L makes in this series. With a 28" diameter and 27" of interior height, it offers maximum capacity for studios and programs that need to move serious volume through a single kiln. If you're running a production pottery operation, teaching large classes, or simply want to fire as much work as possible per cycle, this is the kiln to consider.
The e28T-3 is available in 240V and 208V, single-phase and three-phase configurations. If you want to fire to cone 5-6 consistently at your home studio on 240v-1ph, we recommend the eQ2827-3 kiln. The e28T-3 is rated for cone 8 at residential 240v-1ph power. For schools, it is the perfect large size low-fire kiln for 208v-1ph. Rated for cone 10 for all 3 phase applications. Maximum temperature rating varies by voltage, so be sure to check your electrical specs to confirm the right configuration for your firing needs. The Genesis 2.0 touchscreen with three-zone control is standard, and the WiFi enabled app lets you keep an eye on your firings remotely.
The Kiln Guy has installed e28T-3 kilns in private studios, university ceramics departments, and community art centers throughout the PA, NJ, and DE region. We understand the logistics of installing a kiln this size — from confirming your electrical capacity and desired firing temperature- to navigating tight doorways and stairs. Our local hand delivery and installation service takes the stress out of what should be an exciting addition to your studio.
Model e28T-3 Easy-Fire Automatic Kiln with Multi-Program Three-Zoned Genesis Touchscreen control mounted in an easy-open, cool-firing, piggyback control panel that is angled for easy viewing of control. Kiln comes with hard ceramic element holders, protected thermocouples, a strong solid-top stand, an easy-lift spring hinge, and solid peephole plugs. 28" diameter by 27" high (10.2 cubic feet). 3" K23 brick. NEMA 6-50 single phase or 15-50 three-phase 6-foot power cord included. There are three thermocouples. No charge for 3-phase versions. C-MET-us listed in the USA & Canada. Cone 10 for all three phase models- see below for single phase.
Note about e28T-3 Easy-Fire Kiln on 1-phase power
The e28T-3 kiln is only rated for Cone 8 when the power supply is 240 volts, 1 phase. It is only rated for Cone 5 when the power supply is 208 volts, 1 phase.
A cone rating should be several cones higher than the cone you plan to fire to. Elements in a kiln that is rated for cone 8 will not last very long when firing to cone 5 or 6, especially with heavy loads.
That said - if you answer yes to any of the following questions, you probably want to go with a more powerful L&L, like the eQ2827-3. This kiln has more power (watts) in the single-phase versions than the e28T-3 and will consistently deliver the power you need to reach up to Cone 10.
-
Do you fire to Cone 5 or 6 at least twice a month?
-
Would you fire with more than 3 layers of kiln shelves in this kiln?
-
Can you get a larger circuit breaker? (80 amp breaker for 240 volts, 1 phase OR 90 amp breaker for 208 volts, 1 phase)
NOTE: If the largest circuit breaker you can have is a 60 amp breaker on 240 volts, 1 phase power, you should either get a smaller L&L- like the e23T-3, or count on changing the elements more often than normal. Another help is to get the Quad element option. With the Quad element option, the elements will last longer but you won't get any more power in the kiln (so you could still get slow firings).
e28T-3 Pottery Kiln is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
