Shipping policy
All kilns ship via freight carrier. Kilns that are eligible for and purchased with hand delivery within a 2hr radius of PA 19464 will arrive on a pick up truck.
Once the manufacturer of your kiln notifies us of completion, you will be contacted by The Kiln Guy LLC and be given notice. From there, the freight company will contact you at the email address and phone number that you have provided The Kiln Guy LLC as part of your Ordering and Kiln Order Confirmation Process, so that they may schedule the delivery with you.
Storage Charges:
• Because of limited storage space, we cannot store kilns.
• Kilns will be shipped as soon as they are ready.
• If there is a delay in shipping because the customer is not ready to receive the kiln, we will charge a flat storage fee of $100 plus $50 per week, beginning one week after the kiln is ready to ship.
Published Prices:
• All prices are subject to change without notice. Schools and organizations that require firm prices on purchase orders can email us at sales@thekilnguy.com
• We reserve the right not to honor any published prices or programs that are determined to be erroneous due to printing, electronic or clerical error.

What You Need To Know About Shipping Kilns:
Most kilns will be dropped off curbside. If you need "call-ahead service" (where they call you before delivering) or lift-gate service (where they drop the carton to the road service) this must be ordered ahead.
“Lift-gate Service” is a tailgate elevator on the delivery truck, which lowers down your kiln to ground level. Lift-gate Service requires a smooth paved driveway in order for the carrier to move your kiln while on a pallet jack. If your driveway does not support this, the kiln may be left curbside.
• Trucking companies will not move a kiln into your house or up your driveway.
• Please understand the carrier will not set up, install or put the kiln in your house/building, they will only do curbside delivery and they do not go up/down stairs and steps. Freight shipment is very expensive, if you simply refused the shipment or if they cannot get hold of you, they will send the item back to the shipping terminal. They will charge us the return shipping fee and if that happens, you will be charged for re-delivery and storage.
Be prepared to unload and inspect the kiln upon arrival.
• Kilns arrive on a 53’ trailer, please specify if you are not able to accomodate such a large delivery truck. If this is the case, we can schedule the delivery with a smaller truck and specify limited access with the shipping company.
• If your delivery location requires a smaller truck, or if there is limited access to your location- extra shipping charges may apply.
• In some cases, it may not be possible for your kiln to be delivered to your location. In this case you will need to contact the freight company to pick up the kiln yourself at your nearest shipping terminal.
Please make yourself or a trusted associate available on the date of delivery to accept the kiln. Please note that delivery times are approximate, usually the freight carrier will provide you with a delivery “window”. This window is approximate, and they will provide this to you ahead of time. You can call the freight carrier first thing in the morning on the day of the delivery, it’s possible (but not guaranteed) that they might be able to give you a more accurate delivery window at that time.
Once the carrier arrives with your Kiln/Furniture Kit/Vent System, you will need to carefully inspect the freight box for any damages. Check the outside of the packaging for any visible damage: Cardboard is torn, crushed, or missing, brick chunks are seen laying on the pallet or around bottom of the kiln, top looks crushed or mashed in and/or things are poking out of the cardboard box. If visible damage is seen, you will need to unbox your kiln/furniture kit/vent-system to check for concealed damage while the delivery driver waits . Carriers will not pay claims on concealed damage. If you suspect concealed damage to the package- by law, It is the responsibility of you (the receiver) to fully inspect the freight inside and out before signing off on the delivery.
Do not sign the dock receipt until you carefully inspect all packaging.
Open all boxes immediately upon delivery and make sure that all items ordered are present and are un-damaged.
If you notice any of the damage described above, you reserve the right to refuse delivery. If you see obvious damage to the shipping container, it is advisable to take plenty of pictures as you investigate the inside of the container for damage.
If you notice missing items, make note of it yourself and also be sure to have the carrier make note of it on their delivery receipt.
FREIGHT COMPANIES ALLOW 2 DAYS TO REPORT SHIPPING DAMAGE. WE CANNOT HELP YOU WITH A DAMAGE CLAIM AFTER 2 DAYS AND YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF REPAIRS.
Take as many photographs of everything as soon as you can and email them to sales@thekilnguy.com The time stamp on these photographs/emails is critical when filing a damage claim! If you can, write a description of the breakage or damage or shortage on all copies of the freight bill before you sign it. Make your notations as specific as possible to protect yourself if concealed damage is subsequently discovered. (In some cases, the shipper may not allow you to do that).
Unless the following procedures are followed correctly and we are notified within two (2) days, The Kiln Guy LLC cannot accept any responsibility for the problems that may ensue. There are no exceptions to this policy because we cannot control the procedures at shipping companies that have the power to deny claims.
